When should I start planning my move?
Start about 8 weeks before moving day. That gives you time to compare movers, declutter, gather packing supplies, and schedule utility shutoffs and turn-ons without rushing. Short on time? Our timeline planner compresses the plan to fit whatever runway you have.
How do I change my address when I move?
File a change of address with USPS first (it forwards your mail for 12 months), then update your driver's license, voter registration, banks, insurance, employer, and subscriptions. Our address-change hub lists every category with honest how-tos.
When should I set up utilities at my new home?
Contact providers 1–2 weeks before your move (2–3 weeks for internet installation appointments). Schedule shutoff at your old place for the day after you leave, and turn-on at the new place for moving day itself. See the utility guides for what to ask on the call.
What should I pack for the first night?
